Obituary of
Skiles, John Rumsey
John Rumsey Skiles, Jr., 87, passed away April 1, 2015 in Dallas, Texas. John was born in Dallas on May 9, 1927 and lived his entire live in Dallas other than the time he served in the U S Navy from May 1945 to July 1946 including serving time in the Pacific. John attended Woodrow Wilson High School and obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from Southern Methodist University in art and design in 1950. While at Southern Methodist University he met his wife Merle Yvonne Beauchamp and they were married on June 1, 1948. On their first anniversary they celebrated the birth of their only child, Gary Kenneth Skiles. John was on the Board of the Dallas World Trade Center for many years. John along with his wife was an active member of the Highland Park United Methodist Church and the 2X2 Sunday School Class where John served as a Past President. John enjoyed hunting, golf, cooking, photography and traveling. John is survived by Yvonne Skiles, his wife of 66 years and son Gary Skiles. No service is currently planned. A reception is being planned in the near future at his home for friends to say goodbye and pay their respects to Yvonne. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in John’s name to the Highland Park United Methodist Church – Senior Outreach Program.
