Mills, Linda Gail (Chowning)
Gail Mills, 68, of Carrollton, Texas was healed and entered the arms of Jesus on Thursday, August 6, surrounded by her family at VITAS Hospice Care. She was born on August 16, 1946 in Dallas, Texas.
Gail was raised in Dallas and graduated from South Oak Cliff High School. She attended Southern Methodist University and El Centro College. Gail volunteered with Sunbeams at South Beckley Baptist Church as a teen and young adult.
Gail loved children and serving others throughout her life. She worked with children for over 50 years, touching countless lives. She was a member of First Baptist Carrollton for 44 years where she taught Sunday School, GA’s, and VBS. She also volunteered as a camp counselor.
Gail worked for First Baptist Carrollton in the Children’s Ministry and at the Daycare. Many lunches were made; buses driven; and laps skated around the roller rink. She also enjoyed teaching children at Northway Baptist Church and Bent Tree. Many families were impacted by her gentle spirit, love, and care.
Gail faithfully served on Wednesdays at The Friendship House at First Baptist Carrollton helping families in need. She looked forward to this every week, and used the opportunity to mentor her oldest grandson in this area of service to others.
Gail is survived by her husband of nearly 45 years, Don; daughter, Laura Wall and her husband Michael; daughter, Angie Rodriguez and her husband Greg; daughter, Amy Dresser and her husband David; daughter, Christy Mills; sister, Betty Clark; nephew, Kevin Clark; and niece, Sheri Clark. She was blessed with 11 grandchildren, Joshua, Jadon, Joel, Josiah, Jamin, Landry, Liberty, Carissa, Anika, Lucas and Elia.
Gail was preceded in death by her parents Morris and Mary Chowning.
Visitation will be on Monday, August 10, 2015 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm in the Brooks Family Chapel of the North Dallas Funeral Home, 2710 Valley View Lane, Farmers Branch, Texas 75234.
Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at 1:00 pm at First Baptist Church Carrollton, 2400 N. Josey Lane, Carrollton, Texas 75006.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Allen Endowment Fund of First Baptist Carrollton or to the Friendship House at fbcc.org/give.
