Obituary of Badgett, William "Bill" Ray

William (Bill) Ray Badgett Sr., 79, of Allen, Texas died Tuesday September 22, 2015 with his family by his side. Born July 27, 1936 in Calera, Oklahoma to R.T. Badgett and Beatrice Kathryn (Medford) Badgett. Bill Graduated from The Academy of Richmond County, Augusta, GA, in 1954. He began his service for Air National Guard of Oklahoma in October 1958 and was honorably discharged in 1964. He studied architecture at Oklahoma State University where he was a member of the Theta Chi fraternity. Bill married Janice Lee Pritchett on December 8, 1961. He was a devoted husband of 54 years and a loving father of 2 children. After obtaining his architecture license, Bill successfully opened his own architecture business in Oklahoma City and many of his designs can be seen in school, churches, and banks across the state of Oklahoma. He was president of National Exchange Club in OKC. Bill was also a member of American Institute of Architects and served as president in 1985. Bill was a die-hard, Loyal and True, Oklahoma State fan. He was a member of Church of the Servant Methodist Church in Oklahoma City where he regularly served the Lord. Bill was also a member of Siloam Masonic Lodge as a Shriner and rode street motorcycles in several parades. Bill loved camping in his converted school bus camper, bringing the motorcycles along, and riding with his family and friends. He and Janice also spent many weekends at their trailer house on Lake Tenkiller, having a good time with their family and fishing. He retired to Hot Springs Village in 2006 to continue his passion for golf, playing countless rounds with Janice and his friends. He volunteered with a men’s woodworking group in Hot Springs that made toys for underprivileged children. While in Hot Springs, he attended Christ the Hills Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife Janice (Pritchett) Badgett; daughter and spouse, Denise and Don Lipps, of Allen, TX; son and spouse, Ray and Neddi Badgett, of Fort Gibson, OK;  grandchildren, Blaine Badgett, Megan Lipps, and Haven Badgett; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ronnie and Sue Skinner, of Wanette, OK; uncle and aunt, Vernon and Alberta Badgett, of Lindsey, TX, as well as many special nieces, nephews, and cousins. Preceded in death by his parents, R.T.  and Beatrice Badgett. Memorial Services will be held on Monday, October 12, 2015 at 11:00am at Church of the Servant Methodist Church, 14343 N. MacArthur Blvd. Oklahoma City, OK 73142. The family requests that attendees wear orange and black (or Oklahoma State attire) in celebration of his love of the Cowboys.
