Strickland, George Edward (Pop)
George Edward Strickland "Pop" passed away on Tuesday, April 5, 2016. George was born in Rotan, Texas on May 25, 1926, to George Alva and Golda Culbertson Strickland. He served in the U.S. Army from Aug. 15, 1944, to May 30, 1964. He was preceded in death by a son, George Strickland Jr.; and sister, Olene Hicks. George is survived by his wife of 68 years, Hoytez Elliott Strickland; daughter, G. Ellen Dale; grandchildren, Lara S. Dale of Fort Worth, Nathan I. Dale of White Settlement, Becca Jordan and husband, Wade, of Crowley, Josie Ababio and husband, Montell, of Burleson; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Dorothy McNutt of San Angelo; and special friends, Daryl and Susan Johnson, and Claudette Williams. Thanks to Accolade Hospice, especially Sandy, Rachel and Keisha. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at Wheatland Baptist Church, 15910 US-377, Fort Worth, Texas 76126 with Richard Garrett officiating.
