Obituary of Dolph, Nancy Wilkins

Nancy Wilkins Dolph passed away peacefully on July 11, 2016. She was born July 28, 1927 in Waco, Texas to Finis D. and Warrena Wilkins. Her family later moved to Dallas where she lived a full life. She graduated as the salutatorian of her class at Highland Park High School.Ā  She then attended Sophie Newcomb College where she received a degree in psychology.Ā  She was also a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority.Ā  After moving back to Dallas she met George Dolph at a dance at White Rock Lake and they were married on May 23, 1952. They had 64 wonderful years together. Ā Ā Along with raising her three daughters, Nancy was active in many groups and had many friends whom she loved.Ā  She was devoted to her friends and family.Ā  She was a founding member of her sewing club which is still meeting after 64 years.Ā  (They were featured in a Dallas Morning News article.)Ā  She loved family get- togethers with all the grandchildren and the great grandchildren. Her passion was the Lord and Highland Park Presbyterian Church. She served there faithfully many years first as a deacon and then as one of the first woman elders.Ā  She was on the Presbytery committee and served one year as a delegate to the General Assembly.Ā  Up until the end she was schedulingĀ  speakers for the John McCoy Sunday School Class.Ā  Three and half years ago she and George moved to Presbyterian Village North where they joined old friends and made many new ones. Another fond interest of hers was travel. She vacationed at Padre Island every summer with her family and once the kids were gone, she went on many great trips to Europe where she was partial to Italy. She also had a standing trip every Memorial Day weekend to visit her daughter that lives in Los Angeles. She is survived by her husband, George Dolph, and her daughters, Emily Dolph Curioni and husband David, Laura Dolph Sasser and husband Trebes, and Connie Dolph.Ā  She also has 4 grandchildren, Caroline Sasser Hutton and husband Trey, Trebes Sasser Jr. and wife Michelle, Ā Elise Sasser Leiss and husband Ernst, and Campbell Sasser and wife Virginia plus nine great grandchildren. Memorial services will be at 2:00 pm on Thursday, July 14, 2016 in the Wynne Chapel at Highland Park Presbyterian Church, 3821 University Blvd, Dallas, Texas 75205. In lieu of flowers donations may be madeĀ in Nancy's memory to Highland Park PresbyterianĀ Church. Please leave the family condolences and share memories on this website.

To Emily, Laura and Connie: I just read about your dear mother’s passing. I am so terribly sorry I missed the service. I realize we have not crossed paths in a good while, but growing up with you all was a big part of my life. And I saw your mother several times when she and my mother visited over the years. Please accept my deepest condolences on your loss. All my love, Michele

To Laura and Emily and the entire family – I want to extend my deepest sympathy on the loss of your dear Nancy. I had the true pleasure of getting to know her in her later years and I am grateful for this. She will be missed but her influence lives on the lives of her children and grandchildren. She was always trying to be a better person, she was a devout Christian and an elegant lady, loving mother and wife, a caring friend, a tireless worker for people and things she believed in. It was a privilege to have known her. I will pray for peace and comfort for all of you.
