Obituary of Faulkner, Lloyd Ernest

LLOYD ERNEST FAULKNER – began his journey into this world on June 12, 1935 in his grandmother’s front room in Malvern, Arkansas.  He was raised in Dallas, Texas by his mother, Marie Duncan and stepdad, Norval Duncan.  Lloyd lived his life “his way”. He was always a positive, cheerful person and enjoyed every day. He graduated from Sunset High School where he was a fun-loving cheerleader.  After graduating in 1954 he submitted his name for the draft and spent 2 years in the Army in Germany  Every day was an adventure for him – he even liked the Army food. In business, Lloyd was Comptroller of the Zales Jewelry Division before branching out in the 1970’s as a self employed salesperson in fashion jewelry. He often said he’d been to every little town in Texas.  Then moving in fine jewelry, he opened First Gold Corp., manufacturing and selling fine jewelry and diamonds.  When he traveled on the road he not only made customers, but they became friends as well some of which he still had. Lloyd was literally a man of many hats. He started a construction company building a large self-storage facility and several duplexes.  He bought rental houses and remodeled them.  And if that wasn’t enough, he opened a ladies fashion clothing manufacturing company.  He loved it all. But most of all, he loved his family. Pre-deceased by him – Mother, Marie Duncan; stepdad, Norval Duncan; brother, Larry Duncan; and uncle R.G. Ham.  Survived by the love of his life, wife and best friend, Shirley; daughters LeeAnn English (Steve); and Melinda Griffin (Stephen); stepdaughters, Mindy Kahn and Lori Cummings; “adopted” daughter and caregiver Teri Hitchcock; grandchildren (Ponca to them) Lauren Helfrich, Meigan English and Ian Cummings; son-in-law Guy Cummings; brother, Roland Duncan; sister, DeLaine Hurley and many nieces and nephewsand some wonderful friends. RIP, sweet Lloyd. Lloyd's family will receive visitors Wednesday, March 29, 2017 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm in the Brooks Family Chapel of the North Dallas Funeral Home, 2710 Valley View Lane, Farmers Branch, Texas 75234. The Funeral Service will begin, following the visitation, at 12:00 pm (Noon) at the funeral home. Following the service there will be a procession to Laurel Land Memorial Park, 6000 South R. L. Thornton Fwy, Dallas, Texas 75232 where Lloyd will be laid to rest. Please leave the family condolences and share memories on this site.

I worked for him and Roland Duncan at a jewelry store in Oak Cliff which I was the manager and Timex watch and repair person. He was a wonderful man. He wanted to send me to jewelry school, that’s a regret I carry, but he was truly a fine man I am blessed for knowing him

I am so grateful to have known you Lloyd, and had the opportunity to spend a good decade working and doing life together with you and Shirley. I was always greeted with a smile, always full of life and you always wanted the very best for others, always! I know you are now finally home, and heaven will be even greater because of you! You will always be missed!!
