Obituary of
DeLeon, Rudy
It is with great sadness that the family of Rudy DeLeon announces his passing on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at the age of 58.
Rudy was born on March 25, 1959 to Santos and Mary DeLeon. He graduated from North Dallas High School in 1977 and, in 1980, married Evelia Garza, his loving wife of 37 years.
Born and raised in Dallas, Rudy was a true blue, die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan. Win or lose, he loved his team and was rarely seen without at least one Cowboys-related article of clothing, be it a hat, a jersey, a jacket, a t-shirt or even socks! Rudy never missed a game and one of his favorite memories was seeing the Cowboys beat the Steelers at Super Bowl XXX.
The only thing Rudy loved more than the Dallas Cowboys was his family. A devoted father of four and beloved grandfather of three, Rudy wore many hats throughout his life including chauffer, coach, tutor, handyman, chef and cheerleader. He spent many years coaching his children’s soccer and baseball teams and supported them in any way he could, whether it was serving as a Cub Scout Den Leader, volunteering in the school concession stand or serving as PTA President. Despite declining health in recent years, he was always there for his children, grandchildren and anyone who needed him. Though he will be greatly missed, his family is thankful for the laughter, memories and love that will live on forever.
Rudy is preceded in death by his father Santos.
Rudy is survived by his wife Evelia; their children Eric DeLeon; Angela DeLeon-Coleman and son-in-law Curtis; Lauren DeLeon and Sarah DeLeon. He was the proud grandfather of Theodore, Lucy and Penny DeLeon. He is also survived by his mother Mary Garcia and stepfather Ismael; his brother John DeLeon and sister-in-law Belinda; his brother Rick DeLeon; his sisters-in-law Christina Garcia, Lisa Almaguer, Debbie Flores and their families; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
The visitation and viewing will be on Sunday, August 20, 2017 from 1:00 to 5:00pm in the Brooks Family Chapel of the North Dallas Funeral Home, 2710 Valley View Lane, Farmers Branch, Texas 75234. Please join us as we pray a rosary at 3:00pm.
Funeral Mass will be on Monday, August 21, 2017 at 10:00am at Mary Immaculate Catholic Church, 2800 Valwood Parkway, Farmers Branch, Texas 75234.
Following the mass, there will be a procession to Calvary Hill Cemetery, 3235 Lombardy Lane, Dallas, Texas 75220, where Rudy will be laid to rest.
Go Cowboys!
