Obituary of Morgan Sr., Alvie (Roger) Baxter

Alvie (Roger) Baxter Morgan, Sr. lost his 3 year battle with COPD on Monday, August 28, 2017 at the age of 84. Roger was born on March 25, 1933 in Covington, Kentucky to the late Alvie Boluss Morgan and Alma Christina Downs.  Roger was a veteran of the United States Army where he served as a medic in the Korean War. Because of his heroic actions while injured in the line of duty, he earned a Purple Heart.  After returning from the war, he relocated to Dallas where he met his wife, Mary and had three children: Angela, Vivian and Matthew. Roger had a successful 40 year career as a car salesman in Dallas. He partnered with his son, Matthew to open Morgan Motors where he worked until his retirement in the mid 90’s. Roger was an avid record collector and had taste in music ranging from Conway Twitty to the Rolling Stones. In retirement, Roger enjoyed spending time with his family as well as reading and exercising. Roger was preceded by the death of both of his parents, as well as his brother, Donald and little sister, Margaret. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Mary; their three children and their spouses; Angela and Hamid, Vivian and Yossi and Matthew; and his four beautiful grandchildren; Sara, Dorise, Nathaniel and Aviel. Family will be receiving visitors from 10:00 am to noon in the Brooks Family Chapel of the North Dallas Funeral Home, 2710 Valley View Lane, Farmers Branch, Texas 75234. Celebration of Life service will begin immediately following the visitation at 12:00 pm (noon) also at the funeral home. Graveside services, with military honors, will follow the service at the DFW National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas 75211. This service will be at 2:00 pm.
