Patton, Billy (Bill) Leroy

Billy (Bill) Leroy Patton, 80, of Farmers Branch, Texas, departed this world on September 17, 2017. Bill was a veteran of the U.S Marine Corps and a mason by trade.  He helped build many buildings in Shelby and the surrounding areas and was a true craftsman and artist.  Bill had a lust for life and family.  He liked fast cars, backyard barbeques and a cold beer.  Some of his other interests were playing cards, listening to music and watching a good movie.  Bill loved to exercise, and in his later years, could be found exercising several hours a day.  Bill always had a helping hand for others in need and he would help in any way that he could.

Bill was born April 28, 1937, in Wellington, Ohio to Opal Edna (Foster) and Vinton Alex Patton.

Bill is survived by his wife, Brigida (Banda) Patton; children, Juana Patton, W. Tracy (Barb) Patton, Janet (Vernon) Fernandes, Delores (Ron) Viers, Gary Bishop, and Larry Bishop; sisters Virginia (Bill) Emswiler, Pauline (Sam) Napier, Sue Kliensmidt, Shirley (Pena) Brooks and Donna (Pena) Patrick; brothers Harold (Phyllis) Patton, John (Emily) Patton and Robert (Robie) Pena; former spouse Mary (Patton) Sendelbach; and many nieces, nephews and grandchildren.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Opal and Vinton; sisters Lucille (Pug) Arnold, Caroline (Bill) Rachel and Edith Patton; and brothers Charles (Chuck) Patton, Samuel Sr. (Louise) Patton, Paul E. (Pete) Patton, Tom (Kathy) Patton, Paul L. Patton, Raymond Pena and Michael Pena.

A celebration/memorial service will be held from 2-5pm, Saturday, October 14 at the Ontario Event Center, 3985 Park Avenue West, Mansfield, Ohio. Memorial donations may be made to the glioblastoma research collaborative at, a subsidiary of the National Brain Tumor Society.
