Elliott, Thomas Howard
Thomas Howard Elliott of Carrollton,Ā Texas passed away on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 in Plano, Texas at the age of 91. Thomas was born on June 22, 1926 in Duluth, Minnesota to George and Ruth Elliott. Ā He served in the United States Navy in World War II and the Korean War. Tom married Betty Hovland on September 26, 1953 in Duluth, Minnesota. He worked in sales for Johnson & Johnson from 1954 to 1966 and lived in Iowa, Nebraska, Ohio, Louisiana and Dallas, Texas. In 1966 they moved to Belton, Texas and owned and operated the Best Western River Forest Motel from 1966 to 1985. Ā In 1992 they moved to Dallas and owned and operated a CruiseOne, Inc. franchise for over 20 years. Tom and Betty traveled extensively together exploring many areas of the US and Canada, as well as Europe, Asia, Australia, New Zealand and South America. Tom was a charter member of King of Glory Lutheran Church of Dallas.Ā He was very proud of his Scottish heritage and to show this, he would often wear his Elliott tartan tie. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Betty Elliott of Carrollton, Texas. He was most proud of his family; son, Steve Elliott and wife, Kay of Allen, Texas; son, Donald Elliott and wife, Ā Angie of Plano, Texas; daughter, Barbara Shelton and husband, Tony of Carrollton, Texas; six grandchildren, Zachary Elliott and wife, Rebekah of San Antonio, Texas,Ā Matthew Elliott and wife, Ashley of Frisco, Texas,Ā Bethany Comerford and husband, Simon of Princeton, Texas, Lauren Elliott of Plano, Texas, Thomas and Amanda Shelton of Carrollton, Texas; four great grandchildren, Eliza Elliott, Olivia Elliott, Benjamin Elliott and William Comerford; and several nieces and nephews. Tom is preceded in death by his parents; brother, George (Buddy) Elliott; sister, Joan Bright and great granddaughter Maren Grace Elliott. Funeral services will be Tuesday, October 3 at 11:00 am, at King of Glory Lutheran Church, 6411 Lyndon B. Johnson Fwy, Dallas, Texas 75240, with Rev. Olin Knudsen officiating; followed byĀ interment at 2:30 pm, with military honors,Ā at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000Ā Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas 75211.Ā Ā Honorary pallbearers will be Zachary Elliott, Matthew Elliott, Bethany Comerford, Lauren Elliott, Thomas and Amanda Shelton. The family suggests memorials be directed to the American Juvenile Diabetes Foundation. PleaseĀ leave the family condolences and shareĀ memoriesĀ on this website.
