Obituary of Colby, Jo Ann Escue

Jo Ann Escue Colby passed away in Plano, Texas at 4:02 am, Thursday, November 9, 2017 at the age of  83.  She was born in Sterrett, Texas on December 22, 1933, which is a small town located near Waxahachie. She was married to Pete Colby on April 11, 1953 in Waxahachie, Texas.  Jo Ann and Pete were married for a loving 43 years. Jo Ann is remembered by her sister, MaryBeth and Bob Bruner; her brother, Howard Edwin and Loretta Escue; her daughter, Debra Kay Colby Cox; and son, David Lynn Colby and Debbie Colby; grandchildren, Brandon Colby, Casey and Marlene Cox, Brian and Cara Colby Synatzske, Jonathan and Kristy Cox Bybee, James and Reyna Cox, Clayton Colby, Kevin and Kathryn Cox Johnson, and David and Cayla Colby Goodson; great grandchildren, Julian and Zowie Cox, Madison and McKenzie Cox, Amelia and Oliver Bybee, Colby Johnson, Caleb Colby, Berkley and Brodie Synatzske, Payslee and Abram Goodson, Jaxson Colby. Jo Ann was a member of Arlington Baptist Temple and Central Park Baptist for many years. She enjoyed working in the nursery and singing in the choir. She enjoyed all her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren by always being there for many programs, sports games, and church activities. Some may remember her favorite sayings.  Such as, "well forever more”, “fine as frog hair”, “raining as hard as a cow pissing on a flat rock”, "well for pete sake", "that beats a hen a pecking", "rather scratch a elephants butt with a toothbrush", "Oh lordy", "who opened the floodgates", "always eat dessert first". The visitation will be held from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Sunday, November 12, 2017 in the Brooks Family Chapel of the North Dallas Funeral Home, 2710 Valley View Lane, Farmers Branch, Texas  75234 Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, November 13, 2017 in the Brooks Family Chapel of the North Dallas Funeral Home.  Rip Cannon, Wade Longcrier and Tim Banks will be officiating; all from First Baptist Church of Carrollton, Texas.  Burial to immediately follow at Furneaux Cemetery  located at 3701 Cemetery Hill Road, Carrollton, Texas 75007. In lieu of flowers, please bring an unwrapped Toy to the funeral home to be donated to Toys for Tots. A program run by the United States Marine Corps.     www.toysfortots.org Lunch immediately following graveside service, with the family at the home of David and Debbie Colby, 10316 Napa Valley, Frisco, Texas 75035.     My prayers to you during this difficult time. I know she is in a better place and not suffering anymore but that doesn’t help with the feeling of loss and heartache. But as long as you remember that God has a better plan for her now and she is no longer suffering and that God will see you through this difficult time.
