Obituary of
Tarr, Peter
Peter (Pete) Tarr, 67, of Farmers Branch passed away on Saturday, December 9, 2017, at a local hospital. Mr. Tarr was born in Szekesfehervar, Hungary. In 1956 Pete, his father and brother escaped Hungary on foot during the Hungarian Revolution. He attended Thomas Jefferson High School and graduated from El Centro College.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ted Tarr, and a sister, Beata France. Pete is survived by his mother, Irene Tarr of Little Rock, Arkansas; one brother, Gabe Tarr (Emily) of New Boston, Texas; nephews, Dr. Russell Tarr (Charity) and Stephen Tarr(Laurie); and one grand nephew.
Pete enjoyed target shooting, scuba diving, playing chess and riding his motorcycle. He was a dog lover.
Pete was employed at the City of Dallas Security Division. The family would like to thank all of the City Hall Family for their visits and support during Pete’s illness.
Mr. Tarr served proudly in the U. S. Army and was a Viet Nam veteran.

The family will be receiving friends and extended family for a visitation and viewing on Saturday, December 16, 2017 from 3:00 to 6:00 pm in the Brooks Family Chapel of the North Dallas Funeral Home, 2710 Valley View Lane, Farmers Branch, Texas 75234.
The family will also be receiving friends and extended family for a visitation and viewing on Monday, December 18, 2017 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am in the Brooks Family Chapel of the North Dallas Funeral Home, 2710 Valley View Lane, Farmers Branch, Texas 75234.
Immediately following the visitation at 11:00 am will be the funeral at the funeral home.
Graveside services, with military honors, will follow at the DFW National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas 75211.

I met Pete at Fidelity years ago. We had so many good times working together. He was my “work family”. I am so sad to hear of his passing. I know he’s in Heaven drinking cups full of Mercado Juarez salsa, oh how he loved that stuff! I am truly blessed to have known Pete!

I met Pete while working at Fidelity Investments in the early 90’s and was able to get to know him well since we worked 12 hours on a shift and sometimes all night. He was a hard and dedicated worker and had a sharp and witty sense of humor. He was also a true gentleman Needless to say working with Pete was always an adventure and always fun with great conversation (and good food)
Pete found out my father in law was from Hungary and we were able to get him and Pete together a few times at our home. They had some great times meeting and Pete always brought a Hungarian dish (on his motorcycle no less…)
RIP Pete, you made the world a better place and left a smile and light upon all you touched.

A valued member of my City of Dallas Family. For those of us who frequented the 4th and 5th floors you will remember him as the guard outside the manager and council offices. He treated everyone the same whether you were there for business or a homeless person passing through City Hall, he treated everyone with respect. Reading about his life, you will know that behind that calm demeanor, quiet smile and gentle authority was a man who had seen much, contributed much and none of us knew what built the man, we just knew finished product. Prayers for the Tarr family and for our city family who worked along side him every day.

I met Pete in ’75, when he worked at the 1st National Bank on Elm. I remember his easy going personality and his white Grand Prix. In the early 80s he took me and my date up on the roof of Rennasiance Tower a couple of times at night. The girls were impressed. Sometimes it’s who you know. Now he interviewed very well but that is not what stood out to me. As he uncrossed his legs and exited the room I noticed the black and grey argyle socks that he was wearing.
