Floyd will be laid to rest on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at Father Kauper Cemetery in Embudo, New Mexico.

Floyd was born on October 13, 1960 in Embudo, New Mexico to two loving parents, John and Emma Martinez.  His faith foundation began in his hometown of Dixon, New Mexico at St. Anthony Catholic Church.  He grew up in a small community rich in faith with his sister, Dilia and brother, Elias.  Floyd graduated from New Mexico State University with a Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering.  He moved to Dallas, Texas where he met and married his wife, Terrie.  Together they welcomed three children into the world: daughters, Julia and Emilia, and son, David.  To say his family was his pride and joy is an understatement.  Some people might of thought he was a quiet man, but those who knew him knew he was a sincere friend.  The conversations he had with people left you feeling loved while laughing.  He will forever be remembered for his smile, humor, dance moves and love of green chili burgers.

Floyd is survived by his wife, Terrie Richie Martinez; daughters, Julia and Emily; son, David; sister, Dilia Manazanares and husband Mariano; brother, Elias Martinez and wife, Nora; nieces, Emma Rose Manazanares (John), Belynda Martinez, Paige Vogel and Ashlyn Richie; nephews, Robert Manazanares (Janet); John Martinez, Case Vogel and Ethan Richie; many wonderful great nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts and cousins.

It was an honor to be a colleague and friend of Floyd. He was as true and genuine as they come. Terrie and the children and all of Floyd’s family and friends are in our thoughts and prayers.

I worked with Floyd for several years at HNTB. He was a wonderful person - patient, kind - always wore a great smile...and of course, his cowboy boots. God bless.

I knew Floyd since high school and our New Mexico State days. His obituary describes him well. He was a kind individual with a great sense of humor. You have been blessed if you knew him. Rest In Peace
