Obituary of Davis, Paula Jeanette (Smith)

Paula J. Davis of Coppell, Texas passed into the arms of her Heavenly Father surrounded by family on February 21, 2018 in Plano, Texas.  Paula lost her fight with complications from the flu and pneumonia at the age of 60. Paula was born in San Diego, California on August 14, 1957 to loving parents Paul and Stella Smith.  Paula was the firstborn grandchild on both sides of the family and enjoyed her position as “Queen Bee” for almost 10 years before twin sisters Shannan and Shawn came along.  Paula was very close to both sets of grandparents and childhood summers were spent in either Arkansas or California surrounded by aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents.  Paula spent many years in northern California raising her family before moving to Coppell, Texas with her partner/husband Ken to be closer to her parents and sisters. Paula worked for many years for the Simon David chain of grocery stores where she was greatly valued for her hard work and dedication.  Paula was a favorite of the management teams and her colleagues and became good friends with many of the customers over time. Paula was very determined to live life her way and always chose her own path in life.  Paula was a true free spirit who always held true to her own beliefs and ideals.  Paula never met a stranger in her life and when she made friends, those friendships were forever.  For someone who never quite made 5’ tall, Paula was truly larger than life with a loving, generous spirit, even taking on the raising of her beloved (and active!) grandson Collin when he was 2 1/2 years old.  Anyone who knew Paula recognized that she took great joy in the simple things in life, not the least of which was spending time with her family, playing games, or reading on her beloved Kindle. Paula joined many of her loved ones in Heaven, including grandparents Paul Smith Sr. and Myrtle Smith and Lewis “Pete” and Allogene Vincent, great aunt and uncle Clarence and Thelma Vincent, aunt Leona Hancock, as well as her father Paul Jackson Smith Jr. Paula is survived by her mother, Stella; partner/husband, Ken Ryan; loving children, Sarah Stocker and Jeremy Davis; her sisters, Shannan Smith and Shawn Hart; grandsons, Yuri, Justin, Collin, Hunter, and James; nieces and nephews, Kelsey and Amber Hart, Kelly, Jack and Abby Smith; as well as aunts and uncles, Richard Smith, Everette and Donna Vincent; cousins, Christine, Jeff and Jenny Smith, Jaime Sales, Danny and Jimmy Hancock, Larry Vincent and Stephanie Parisi; along with a host of other family members spread out across the US. A Celebration of Life for Paula will be held Saturday, March 24, 2018 at 1:00 pm in the Brooks Family Chapel of the North Dallas Funeral Home, 2710 Valley View Lane, Farmers Branch, Texas 75234. Paula’s family would be honored if you would join them at that time to share your memories and stories of this wonderful woman in celebration of her life. Please leave condolences and share memories on this website.

I miss you more everyday, I couldn’t have asked for better parents, you gave me more love and affection then any son could ask for.

Paula & I worked at Tom Thumb. She was one of my first friends there. We both shared August birthdays & turned 60 together. Paula was often my “go to gal,” & I miss her so. I find my strength, in knowing I will see her again. Prayers continue . . .

To Paula: I can’t believe you are gone. I just talked to you a month ago or so. I’d come up to TT but our schedules were different. I will miss you terribly. RIP.
