Obituary of
Justman, Merlyn John
Merlyn John Justman passed from this earth on May 12, 2018. He was born on June 30, 1929 in Dubuque, Iowa to Christopher and Alice Justman. Merl attended Loras Academy before enlisting in the army and serving as a military policeman in Manila, Philippines. Off duty he was the Lightweight Boxing Champion of the camp. After honorary discharge, he was employed in the ladies’ shoe industry across the county including, Dillard’s, Sanger-Harris, and Colbert’s in Dallas. Merl loved to golf, but his passion was bowling, and he was an accomplished one at that, bowling in many leagues throughout his life. He always had something nice to say and was never without a compliment to all he encountered. He had a kind and gentle soul.
Preceded in death by his parents Christopher and Alice, sister; Mary Mills; and brother, Lawrence Justman. Survived by wife, Donna, of 66 years; son, Alan and wife, Gina Justman; grandchildren, Alanna, Michael and Matthew Justman; sister, Kim Eisler of Rockton, Illinois; niece, Lisa Graff of Dubuque, Iowa.
Services will be held in the Brooks Family Chapel of the North Dallas Funeral Home on Monday, May 21 at 10;00 a.m. Intement with military honors, will follow at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas 75211.

So sad to hear Merl is not with us anymore. I always will remember Merl had a smile for everyone. I sincerely hope the memories will ease today’s pain.

So sorry for your loss. Merl was such a nice,soft spoken man. I remember how Mom always always made sure to make him a lemon pie when he visited her. Because it was his favorite. Since she is not here anymore, I made sure that I made him one when we visited Dallas in 2016. He was so pleased!
