Obituary of Pecina, Elizabeth Rose (Zimiga)

It is with great sadness that the family of Elizabeth Rose Pecina announces her passing, after a brief illness, in Dallas, Texas, on Friday June 22, 2018, at the age of 71 years. Elizabeth is beloved by her brothers and sister, Hermam (Wesley), William (Pancho), Hobert, Robert (Bobby), Joseph (Mark), Timothy and Lavon (Bernadette); also by her two sons, Michael and Robert Wagers and his wife, Carolyn Gallegos; and grandchildren, Robert II, Michael Crystal and her husband, Angel Nevarez.  Liz will also be fondly remembered by her four great grandchildren, Angel Jr, Aleahya, Chloe and Cali. Liz was born on June 2, 1947, in Pine Ridge, South Dakota, to Emma and Herman Zimiga. She attended Pittman’s Business College, El Centro College in Dallas, Texas. She was also a graduate from O’Gorman High School in Sioux Falls, South Dakota in 1966. Liz was married to her, predeceased, husband Pedro Pete Pecina. She proudly provided 29 years to the Dallas County Juvenile system in which she retired on June 30, 2006. Elizabeth enjoyed educating others on the history of her ancestors the Lakota Oglala Sioux tribe in Pine Ridge, South Dakota where many of her loving family still reside today. In honorable memory of Elizabeth whom encouraged others to continue in strength, trust in Gods will, overcome all life obstacles and appreciate the many blessings of life, may she rest in peace and be blessed with eternal life and walk beside the Lord. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Emma Zimiga; husband, Pedro Pecina; brother, William Silas Zimiga Sr. (Pancho), and daughter, Amy. Family and friends will gather at North Dallas Funeral Home in the Brooks Family Chapel, 2710 Valley View Lane, Farmers Branch, Texas 75234 on Thursday June 28, 2018 for visitation from 5:00-8:00 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held the following day, Friday, June 29, 2018 at 11:00 am at North Dallas Funeral Home. For those whom want to attend, she will be laid to rest at Calvary Hill Cemetery,  3235 Lombardy Lane, Dallas, Texas 75220, following the mass. Please leave the family condolences and share memories on this page.
