Sheilagh Lee Fulton, 68-years old, died on Friday, July 13,2018 at Faith Presbyterian Hospice Center in Dallas, Texas. She had been fighting a degenerative neurological disease and movement disorder for the past 4 years with more strength and courage than most could. Her strong will to live, unwavering faith in God, and the love and prayers of family, friends, and many supporters carried her through these trying times. Sheilagh was born on October 20,1949 in Wichita Falls, Texas to Beverly and Herman Balch. Known for her ease in frequent conversation with even total strangers, she possessed a contagious smile and an entertaining sense of humor. She could light up a room with her beauty and warm giving spirit. Throughout her life she maintained a fun, sweet and simple demeanor that won the trust and hearts of many, who even now are being changed by her witness of constant nurturing love and faith. Her signature gift of joy, shown through her constant smiling, laughter, and joking around, will never be forgotten. After graduating from Mount St.Gertrude in Boulder, Colorado, Sheilagh moved to Arlington, Texas . Shortly after, she welcomed her first son, Mark Bradley into the world. She held numerous fascinating jobs in her life including Title, desktop publishing and web design, interior design, professional christmas decorating (she owned a christmas store for a few seasons and decorated known hotels all over Dallas) Event planning for high profile causes, and her own store, Lone Star Diva Designs. She was also a proud Ya-Ya, bringing together a fabulous group of women who she loved and loved her. Sheilagh was an amazing wife, mother and friend to her many loved ones. She showed us her unconditional love every moment of her life and our lives are better for having known her love in our lives. When she wasn’t taking care of others, she enjoyed music, shopping, and most of all, traveling to visit her son all over America, antiquing in Round Top, TX and visiting her favorite city, New York, New York. The family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support in many heart-felt forms from too many people to name individually, but including: Hospice – the amazing Faith Presbyterian Hospice facility:  family and friends – either through prayer and/or visits, neighbors, and even random acts of kindness through total “strangers”. Her family members are numerous, but mainly include: Husband of 46 years: David Stephen Fulton Mother of 2 Children : Mark Bradley Fulton (1968-2015) and David Jerett Fulton Grandmother to 2: Cody and Carrie Fulton Immediate family: Brother, Ted Balch In-Law’s: June Fulton,  Rocky and Janice Potter, Robert and Teresa Fulton, Brent and Joyce Fulton, Sean and Shanna Fulton, Joni Balch, Eva Fulton There will be a Memorial Service Saturday, July 28th at 2:00 pm at Faith Presbyterian Hospice Chapel, 12477 Merit Drive, Dallas,Texas 75251. Like so many others, my life was changed forever the day I met Miz Dixiedoo herself. A heart the size of Texas, she was the very definition of Southern Hospitality and we all loved her for it. She was grace and style and fun all rolled into one and I will carry her in my heart every day of the world.

My love from Down Under to her family and all her friends from around the world.

I’m so sorry for your loss.

I, along with my husband Jack, Bob & Barb Stefani met Sheilagh, Steve, and Jerett in Toronto, Canada. It was a wonderful Ya-Ya night. We went to dinner, then on the sound studio to listen to Jerett’s music. I’ll never forget her warmth and their generosity. Godspeed dear Dixie.

Dixie I guess I should be forever grateful to Lex for skipping school and going to NY to meet you and the ya-ya’s. If she didn’t I might of never met you and the beautiful band of women you surrounded yourself with.
Over the years we became very good friends and you use to call me your soul sistah. You amazed me with your kindness and openness and the beautiful smile that welcomed us all in. You opened your home to so many and Jarett and Stephen were always so gracious to welcome us in and let us take over the Fulton house. I can’t count the adventures we have been on even if it was just going to the store. We always would be laughing.
I believe that it wasn’t a coincidence that we met and that everything happens for a reason.
I will miss you dearly and there is place in my heart that is missing. Till we meet again Sunflower. YA-YA

  7. Lisa Martinez aka Leesa says:

My life was such more of a blessing knowing the fabulous “Dixie”. From the moment we met we just clicked. As she always told me, “We’re were kindred spirits” from the moment we started talking on the phone not even meeting in person. That said a lot about who she was. I will always remember the good times we had. She was there for me thru thick and thin. I’m sad she’s not here in my everyday life but she is in a better place and not suffering. And for that, I’m happy. I loved her from the moment we met and will see her again dancing with the angels. Love you to the moon and back, my dear sweet Dixie.

Sheilagh (aka Dixiedoo) was one of the most amazing, caring, talented, generous women I’ve been privileged to meet. She turned every car ride into a parade float, leaving glitter and feathers in her wake. As much as I’ll miss knowing she’s in this world, I’m happy she is free from pain and illness and is whole again. I know she is reunited with Mark, Kitty, and Trace.

Dix, I’ll see you in my dreams. I love you, Sunflower.

I never got to meet this beautiful soul but her spirit and kindness was well know to all of us from The Porch. Dix was a true Ya-Ya in every sense of the word. I am saddened that she is gone but rejoice knowing she is no longer helds by the bonds that were her lot the last part of her earthly life here. I am sure she is watching over her amazing family and friends and is sitting on that big Porch with God and His Son along with all our other Ya-Ya sisters that have passed. They keep watch over us down here… what a blessing she will forever be.. ♡

I’ve not posted because I needed a bit to put myself together.

Sheilagh and I had such grand adventures. From sitting on the porch at Meyerland Farms looking at the stars, going to the State Fair, going to get pumpkins for her porch to just calling to talk because we missed each other. She never forgot my birthday and would call and sing me “Happy Birthday”. We spent countless hours just talking.

She was one of my best friends, my voicemail is a copy of hers because I loved it. All those nights sitting and talking, spilling salsa in her new Yukon.. jumping in her pool fully clothed.. I named my dog Dixie after her. She was thrilled.

I really am at a loss for words which may be surprising to many.

I love you Mrs Fulton. My second mom. You were a gift from God.

Thank you J for sharing her with us.

I’ve gotta run as I’m crying again.
