Carter, Carol Ann (Morishige)

Carol Carter of Carrollton, Texas passed peacefully on Saturday, July 28, 2018, at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center.  She was surrounded by her family.

Carol was born on December 5, 1941, in Kilauea, Hawaii. She was the third of six children born to Edward and Dora Morishige. Carol grew up in Hanalei on the island of Kauai and graduated from Kapaa High School in 1959. She later attended Western State College in Gunnison, Colorado where she received a teaching degree. Carol taught elementary school in various cities and countries. While teaching in Japan, Carol met her husband, Ed Carter.  The two were married on April 3, 1976 and had two children, Andrea and Brandon.  The family lived in California, Virginia and Germany before finally settling in Carrollton, Texas in 1992.  During the summers, Carol would often take Andrea and Brandon back to her hometown in Hanalei, Kauai. This opportunity gave the children the chance to visit her side of the family and experience island life.

Carol is survived by her beloved husband Ed Carter of Carrollton, Texas; daughter Andrea (Chris) Boutelle of Angel Fire, New Mexico; son Brandon (Laura) Carter of Carrollton, Texas; grandsons Mark, Blake and Cole; brother Edward (Lupe) of San Jose, California; sister Betsy Kamehiro of Santa Cruz, California; sister Judy Wakumoto of Hanalei, Hawaii; brother Dwight (Susan) Morishige of Hanalei, Hawaii; She was predeceased by her brother Gary (Marney) Morishige of Hanalei, Hawaii.  She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and loved ones.

There isn’t a life that Carol hasn’t touched or made an impact on.  Carol was the sweetest and most patient person, with a gentle soul.  She was soft-spoken and yet strong and was the rock of the family. Her heart was filled with compassion, as is shown through her deep love of her family, especially her 3 grandsons.  She will always be remembered for her gentle soul, kind smile and warm personality.  Aloha Carol!
