Obituary of
Hoffman, Barbara
Barbara Hoffman passed away on August 6, 2018, after an extended and courageous battle with Alzheimers-related dementia at the young age of 73.
Barbara was born on September 23, 1944 in Dallas, Texas, to parents Jack and Sue Potash. She graduated from Hillcrest High School in 1962, and soon afterward she met Ron Hoffman; they fell in love, and were married on June 2, 1963.
Sharing her positive outlook on life and sense of fairness with everyone she came into contact with seemed easy for her, and she always strived to be exemplary in all of her jobs. Once a door-to-door saleswoman for Avon, she quickly advanced to the top as a District Manager, and she found a similar trajectory at Braum’s, going from ice cream square-dipper to District Manager in the blink of an eye.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, her uncle Sam and wife Lil, and her brother Ted. Barbara is survived by her devoted husband Ron, and two sons Brian and Jeffrey; her siblings Sonya Schwartz and husband Larry, Rosie Stromberg, Ilaya Potash, Don Potash and wife Valerie, Ed Potash and wife Debbie; brother-in-law, Marvin Hoffman and wife Shirley; and many other loving relatives and friends.
Her family wishes to thank the staff at Corinth Rehabilitation for caring for Barbara the last five years, and also for the compassionate staff at Mercy Hospice.
A graveside service will be held at Temple Emanu-El Cemetery, 3430 Howell Street, Dallas, Texas, on Thursday, August 9 at 10:30 am.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Alzheimers Association at ALZ.org.
Please leave the family condolences and share memories on this website.
