Jenkins, Vernon Douglas

Vernon (Papa) Douglas Jenkins of Carrollton, Texas passed away on Friday, September 7, 2018 at the age of 67.  He was born in Dallas, Texas on January 11, 1951, growing up in Coppell, Texas.  His parents were Clovis and Minnie Alice (Hawkins) Jenkins.

Preceding Vernon in death were his parents; and his sisters, Pauline Jenkins and Claudine Jenkins Neal.  He is survived by his loving wife, Renee Pevehouse Jenkins; son, Justin (Amy) Jenkins; daughter, Carla (Steve) Wall; granddaughter, Hanna Wall; brother, Ernest Jenkins and numerous other family members and friends.

Vernon was a real outdoors man.  He loved hunting and fishing, camping and enjoyed a good campfire.  He was an outstanding cook and loved preparing meals for the family.  Smoking and grilling was of great enjoyment to him and his family, also.  Vernon was describe as a “Down to Earth”, “Plain Spoken”, “Good Ole Country Boy” who was a wonderful husband, father, grandpa, and friend; he had a great sense of humor and was a friend to all!  He liked pleasing people.

The family will be receiving visitors for viewing and visitation on Sunday, September 9, 2018 from 2:00 to 5:00 pm in the Brooks Family Chapel of the North Dallas Funeral Home, 2710 Valley View Lane, Farmers Branch, Texas 75234.

Celebration of Life service will be on Monday, September 10, 2018 at 10:00 am also at the North Dallas Funeral Home.  The Rev. Floyd Starnes will be the officiant.

A procession will follow the service to Furneaux Cemetery at 3650 Cemetery Hill, Carrollton, Texas 75007 where Vernon will be laid to rest.
