Obituary of Mead, Ruby J.

Ruby J. Mead, 83, passed away September 30th, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. In lieu of a formal service, Ruby’s children will hold an intimate private gathering to share their cherished memories. Any donations can be made in her honor to the Baylor Health Oncology Division at Give.BaylorHealth.com. Ms. Mead was born on the 16th of June, 1935 in Mangum, Oklahoma to Leslie Rust and Gracie May. Ruby spent the majority of her life in Texas with her children and grandchildren. She faithfully worked at Bell Dairy and Frito Lay in Lubbock, Texas until she found her calling at T.I. (Raytheon) in Dallas, Texas. She worked with T.I. from 1965 until she retired in 1992 to spend more time with her grandchildren. During her free time, Ruby enjoyed spending time with family, painting beautiful landscape scenes and knitting. You would often find her catching up on current events on the news or watching educational television with a large glass of sweet tea in hand. Ruby loved her family fiercely and without reserve. She remained tenacious throughout her years and although she walked a hard-line, often times her softness peaked through. Ruby is preceded in death by her son, Eddie Armstrong of Royse City, Texas. Ruby is survived by her daughters Janice Cooper and her husband Doc Cooper of Sea Brook, Texas, Sandy Anderson and her husband Leon Anderson of Pasadena, Texas, Jonnye Mead Harris of Plano, Texas and her sons Lonnie Mead Jr and his wife Beverley Mead of Honey Grove, Texas and Mike Armstrong and his wife Angie Armstrong of Westminster, Texas. Her brother Truman Rust and his wife Janell Rust of College Station, Texas. Ruby is also survived by 21 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces.
