Weldon Eugene Sewell left this life on October 5, 2018 in Dallas Texas after a brief illness. He was born February 12, 1940 in Dallas, Texas to James Dalton Sewell and Helen Lou (Lykes) Sewell. Both preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Denise. He has 3 children Rachel Toman of Justin, Texas, Dean Sewell of Hodgen, Oklahoma, and Rebecca Sewell Purvis of Helotes, Texas, and 3 step-children Krystal Rachel Gonzales, of Dallas, Texas, Savannah Christy Gonzales of Dallas, Texas and Emilio Estephan Gonzales of Dallas, Texas.
He has 13 grand children Tina Estrada, Michael Burton, Levi Burton, Scott Sewell, Victoria Arnette, Zack Demereck, Emily Emmons, Jena Sewell, Jordan Allen, Danielle Lane, Kendall Lopez, Lola Cheyenne Urusti, and Lucas Estephan Urusti. Weldon has 13 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grand children.
Weldon is also survived by his siblings Lloyd Sewell (Sayuri) of Oxnard, California, Carole Atkins (Dennis) of Broken Bow, Oklahoma, Sharon Chapman (James) of Pahrump, Nevada, Edmund Sewell of Glendive, Montana, Melody Frazell (Joe) of Cedar City, Utah, and Pam Sainick (Fred) of Irvine, California. He has many nieces and nephews.
Weldon graduated from Antelope Valley High School in Lancaster, California. Later he received an Associate’s Degree from Long Beach City College. He was retired from the United States Army and spent 6 years in the United States Air Force Reserves. He spent time as an EMT for Search and Rescue, was a supervisor for the California Department of Corrections, and later in life was a Wal-Mart Associate, enjoyed working at Cabelas, and most recently was a greeter for Home Depot.
Weldon was an avid gun enthusiast, a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association, a photographer, and a fisherman. He loved to smile, laugh, joke around, and make people happy. He never met a stranger. He loved with all his heart. He will be greatly missed.
Services will be held Monday, October 15, 2018 at the North Dallas Funeral Home 2701 Valley View Lane, Farmer’s Branch, TX 75234. Visitation from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The celebration of life service will be at 12 p.m.
A procession will make it’s way to the DFW National Cemetery 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway Dallas, TX 75211 for burial service at 2p.m.
