Dear Karen and Jackie,
Not only was I so very sorry to hear about Jim’s passing, but I regret not having seen him or you for such a long time. There are so many laughing memories of Jim in my mind, like the time I almost fell on his head when we were rehearsing “Carmen”. Jim remains the only person who ever managed to crack me up on stage. Unfortunately, a previous commitment will prevent my attending the memorial celebration, but be assured my thoughts will be with you and with all his family and friends. The world will be a little darker without him.

I am so sorry to hear that Jim is no longer with us. The world is a bit dimmer without him and his intelligence and humor.
