George Leighton Dahl Akin wasborn at Baylor Hospital in Dallas,Texas on December 12, 1958, anddied unexpectedly of a heart attack in Arlington, Texas on Sunday, November 27, 2011, fifteen days before his 53rd birthday. He attended the Saint Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church Day School and graduated in 1976 from the Cistercian Preparatory School in Irving, Texas. He attended Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, the University of Texas in Austin, and the University of Texas in Arlington where he graduated in 1986 with a B.S. in geology and later earned a M.B.A. also from U.T. Arlington. After graduation he was employed by the National Cash Register Company in Dayton, Ohio and later by Arco Pipeline Company in Houston where he lived with his wife and two daughters in the Woodlands. George moved his family to University Park where he worked as a software consultant tomany national and internationalcompanies. He later joined Oracleas a senior advanced softwaretechnical consultant to companiesthroughout the world and wasemployed by Oracle at the time ofhis death. On February 16, 1985,he married Patricia Ann Draughonin Houston, Texas. He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, George Leighton Dahl and Lillie Olson Dahl of Dallas and his paternal grandparents Ted Akin andLillian Jones Akin of La Feria,Texas. He is survived by hisdaughters, Rachel Elizabeth Akin of Rancho Santa Fe, California, and Christine Lillian Akin of Redondo Beach, California, his former wife, Patricia Draughon Akin, also of Rancho Santa Fe, California, his parents, Gloria and Ted Akin of Dallas, his sisters, Laurel Akin DeWare of Jefferson, Texas, Adrienne Akin Faulkner and Ashley Griffin-Jones Akin of Dallas, Texas, as well as a niece, four nephews, andseveral cousins.A memorial service will be held atthe Saint Michael and All AngelsEpiscopal Church, 8011 DouglasAve., at 4:00 P.M. on Thursday,December 1, 2011, with theReverend Dr. Robert S.
