Aldridge, Melinda
Sue
December 31, 1960 – June 7, 2018
Melinda Sue (Smith) Aldridge, aged 57, passed away at her home on June 7, 2018. Melinda was born on December 31, 1960 in Indianola, MS and was very proud of her southern roots. She was the daughter of Dorothy Hunt and Bobby Smith. She was the proud mother of Laurie Jarolimek, Melissa Harbin, Melody Matej, and Jessica Ortega. She met Wayne Aldridge and a couple years later they were married on September 5, 2009. She was never happier with anyone else than with Wayne. They recently took a trip to Oregon a week before she passed where they went sightseeing and had an amazing time. She was glowing when she returned saying they had the best time.
Family and friends were Melindas passion and delight. She was always planning get togethers, outings with the grandkids, and holiday parties. She brought the whole family together in a way no one else could. She would always say the more the merrier. She could light up a room with her smile and kindness. Melinda was survived by her sister, Leann Marquis and brother, Larry Smith. She also leaves behind numerous loving family and friends.
She was also passionate about her job at G6 hospitality. She was an upstanding employee for 23 years and felt this company was her second family. She gained so many friends working for this company and would often entertain them at her home when she could. She was also very proud of her coordinated charity work through G6 for the YMCA armed services.
Melindas hobbies included shopping, swimming in her pool, cooking, traveling, and anything pertaining to her 15 grandchildren. She chose to be called MiMi because she was way too cool to be called Grandma. She loved shopping for the grandkids whenever she could and loved style and fashion.
When her kids were younger, she was an avid softball mom, traveling the country with the select teams. She was very proud that as a single mom she raised strong independent women who all worked hard to obtain masters degrees in their occupational fields. She loved the tradition of going to Picwick lake every summer with her Aunt Robbie and Uncle Bill. She was at every birthday party, major event, and often helped coordinate them.
Melinda was full of life, always brightening the lives of those around her. Heaven gained an angel on June 7th, 2018. She will be truly missed by all those who have known her.
Memorial Services to celebrate her life will be held in the Brooks Family Chapel of the North Dallas Funeral Home on Tuesday June 12, 2018 at 1:00 pm, viewing before starting at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers the family request you make a donation in the memory of Melinda to YMCA Armed Forcesat www.asymca.org
