Alice Ilene
Tubbs
June 17, 1934 – August 15, 2024
Alice Ilene (Iverson) Tubbs, 90, of FarmersBranch, TX, entered her Heavenly Home on Thursday, August 15, 2024, while at Dallas Medical City Hospital/FarmersBranch.
She was born just five minutes after her "older" identical twin sister, Arlene Inga (Iverson) Berus, on June 17, 1934, the beloved daughters of Bjorland & Asborg Iverson (US immigrants from Norway) in Glendive, Montana. She graduated from Glendive's Dawson County High School in in Glendive in 1952. She married James R. Tubbs on July 25, 1953 at Zion Lutheran Church, also in Glendive.
She was a devoted (& cherished!) homemaker, wife, mother of five children, grandmother of ten, great-grandmother of 14, & great-great-grandmother of one. Her family was her greatest Pride & Joy…& she will be dearly missed by us all! She had such a loving spirit that was truly treasured by all who knew her. After spending her younger years in small-town Glendive, she spent many years of her adulthood traveling worldwide with her husband (due to his work in the oil field business) & family…from Alaska, to Singapore, to the jungle in Borneo, to Iran & United Emirates, then Mexico City & Venezuela…not for the "faint of heart!" Her favorite pastime was playing cards & games with her family, having a fun competitive nature…& a lucky streak that most playing opposite her could not believe! Other hobbies included reading & embroidering, especially baby quilts for her many family members & friends. Her friends from TOPS provided some lasting friendships. But spending time with her twin sister was time she treasured most…& so looked forward to…including frequent connections however they could be made (including twin telepathy…!)
She is survived by son James Tubbs (Cherrie) of Cedar Hill, TX; son Michael Tubbs (Gaye) of Lewisville, TX; daughter Glynis Cailteux (Gary) of Ashkum, IL; son Bryan of FarmersBranch; & son Steve (Helen) of Denton, TX; in addition to sister Arlene of Minneapolis, MN, many nieces & nephews, & her many grand, great-grand, & great-great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents & brothers/sisters-in-law Ralph/Betty Iverson & Iver/Larry Iverson.
Celebration of Life memorial services will be held in Lewisville, Tx. on 9/22/24 & Ashkum, IL at a time/place yet to be determined.
Cremation rites have been accorded in collaboration with North Dallas Funeral Home (FarmersBranch).
Psalms 23:
The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures; he leadeth me beside still waters.
He restoreth my soul; he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me the rest of the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
