Obituary

Jack Church Aydelotte, 88, passed away on August 12, 2015. He began his interesting life on August 24, 1926, in Owensboro, Kentucky. Born to Anna Jo Church and Arbon Yandell Aydelotte, he eventually made his way to Dallas. As a young boy he grew up in the Lakewood area in Dallas, and he loved raising dogs. He raised over thirty dogs. He attended Terrell Prep School. As a young teen, Jack worked as a pinsetter in the local bowling alley, long before bowling alleys were automated. He grew to love the game. He spent much of his time at Lakewood Lanes where he caught the bowling fever. His career started in the Junior Bowling League in 1941. The game became a very popular national and international sport. Back in those days, it was not an easy task to bowl a 300 game.Jack proudly served in the Navy during World War II. He served on a submarine chaser as a Radio man. Upon return from his naval duties, Jack worked for an oil company in Tulsa. That is where he met Janet Elizabeth Croft, with whom he would spend the next 66 years of marriage. He returned to bowling after his military service.Minnesota bowling fans and writers had long lamented the fact that their state boasted no professional bowlers. In 1954, a quiet young man moved from Oklahoma to Minneapolis with AMF. In less than three years, Jack won multiple single classics, two championships, and a position with AMFs promotional staff. He broke into the national spotlight. He competed internationally with AMF until he was lured back to Dallas when recruited by the first National Bowling League in the history of the sport. Jack was the Playing Manager of the Dallas Broncos. Years later, he transitioned from bowling to sales with AMF. His work ethic was unsurpassed, and that was an important lesson he imparted to his children and grandchildren. Sales became his career of choice from then on.Jack also had a great love for golf. You could find him every weekend on the golf course at Brookhaven Country Club or enjoying the weekly Dallas Cowboy games. He lived a comfortable life with his devoted and beautiful wife, Janet, and his two daughters, Stacy and Leslie. As the years progressed, his joy increased exponentially as he experienced the new-found joy of grandchildren. He adored his two grandchildren: Justin and Lizanne, and his great grandchildren: Emery, Ashtyn, Keylee, Derek, and Brylee!Sadly, the years passed too quickly. Jack Church Aydelotte is preceded in death by his parents and his son: Richard Church Aydelotte, and his daughter: Stacy Jeanne Aydelotte. He is survived by his daughter Leslie Anne Aydelotte-Rounds and his devoted wife, Janet Elizabeth Aydelotte, Justin and Lindsey Reid, Lizanne Reid Griffin, and his great grandchildren. May his eternal life bring him well-deserved peace and comfort. He will be dearly missed.A memorial service will take place on Saturday, September 19th, 2 pm at our North Dallas Funeral Home Chapel, 2710 Valley View Lane, Farmers Branch, Texas 75234.Please send the family condolences and share memories on this website.
