Obituary

Barbara Ann Douglas Chambers, 83 of Farmers Branch, Tx was called home by the Lord on Friday, May 31, 2024. She was surrounded by her loving family. Barbara was born in Dallas, Tx on May 3,1941 to John Leslie Douglas, Jr. and Joyce Lynn (Sublett) Douglas. Barbara grew up in Dallas in a small community known as Field City. Barbara attended Carrollton High School where she thrived then met and fell in love with Kenneth Chambers. They married in 1959, and soon were blessed by a son, Mark and daughter, Beth Ann. She loved her family dearly.

To know her was to love her! Barbara had a heart of gold filled with love, kindness, forgiveness and grace. Her beautiful smile and witty sense of humor will always be remembered. Barbara was always helping others and always looked for the best in others. Anyone who knew Barbara was truly blessed by her faith and love of the Lord.

Barbara worked for General Aluminum, however, her true passion was to go to Floral School and become a Master Florist in the 1960's and opening the very first florist in Farmers Branch known as Farmers Branch Florist in 1967. It was truly a family owned and operated business. Barbara was multi-talented, after the florist she worked for Otis Engineering as Purchasing Agent for 14 years and Carrollton/ Farmers Branch ISD as Purchasing Agent for 17 years. She retired from both companies.

Barbara was always up for adventure. She enjoyed lots of activities, hiking the Colorado Mountains, snow skiing, motorcycle riding, road trips, travel trailer camping that included meeting up with other family along the way. Later in life she enjoyed traveling to Hawaii and throughout Europe.

Barbara is survived by her son, Mark Chambers, wife, Beverly of Colorado Springs, CO; daughter Beth Ann Chambers, husband, Bill Miller of Farmers Branch, Tx; sisters Linda (Jerry) Kimbrell of Rockwall, Tx; Debra (Gene) Summerford of Harker Heights, Tx; brothers, John (Susan) L. Douglas III of Flower Mound, Tx; Barney Lee Douglas of El Campo, Tx; grandchildren, Brock (Teresa) Chambers; Shawna (Octavio) Mendez all in Colorado Springs, CO; and 6 great grandchildren Marilyne, Kinsley, Nolan, Sophie, Quincy and Memphis and many other family.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents John L. Douglas, Jr. and Joyce Lynn (Sublett) Douglas and her sister Alice Joyce Raley, her beloved nieces, Anita Dawn Kimbrell, Sandra Summerford Adams, and Melanie Jarrell.
