Barbara Ruth Oswalt, of Dallas, Texas, passed away on May 15, 2025, at the age of 87. Barbara was born on June 23, 1937, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, to Clyde Williams and Ruth Keturah Morris Freeman.
Barbara relocated to Dallas in 1958, where she later served as secretary to Bob Dixon at the Texas Baptist General Convention.
She attended Central High School in Chattanooga, Tennessee and attended Columbia Bible College in South Carolina and briefly studied at a seminary in Dallas, Texas, pursuing her deep love for faith and ministry. Barbara was a born again Christian, since she was 10 years old.
Barbara met Herbert C. Oswalt in 1960, and they were married the same year. Together, they made their home in Dallas and were blessed with two children.
Barbara was a devoted member of Royal Haven Baptist Church for over 60 years. Her servant's heart touched many lives as she participated in various ministries throughout the decades. She taught Sunday School for both 5th graders and her adult peers, worked in the nursery, served during Vacation Bible School, and supported GA's, CIA's, and summer camps at Mt. Lebanon Baptist Camp.
Barbara was preceded in death by her loving husband, Herbert Oswalt, and by her parents, and sister, Rita Williams Riggs.
She is survived by her loving son, Michael Oswalt; her beautiful daughter, Michelle Puga, and son-in-law, Jimmy Puga; her grandchildren, Amanda and Griffin Smyth, and Jared and Chloe Oswalt; her great-grandchildren, Cash, Greer, and Waylon; her sister, Claudette Cox; her brother, Nick Williams, and sister-in-law, Sarah Williams; along with many nieces and nephews.
Barbara's legacy of faith, kindness, and devotion will live on in the lives she touched. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day..."
