BASTIE, FERDINAND "FRED"CLIFFORDBorn 5/27/32 to Emmeline PearlLangille & Frederick Joseph Bastiein Halifax, Nova Scotia, & left hisearthly home to be with our Lordon August 30, 2010. After his fatherdied at an early age Fred & hisbrother left high school to work ona ship on the Great Lakes to supporttheir family. Two years later hejoined the Royal Canadian MountedPolice where he served untilmeeting his true love, Dorothy"Dottie" Dziedzic, while stationedin Windsor, Ontario. They marriedon March 2, 1957 & Fred began alifelong career with Transamerica asa vice president & later as a lobbyist.His career took them to DetroitMI, Akron OH, Albuquerque NM& finally Houston TX, where theylived for 40 years. He willingly retiredat 57 & played golf every day,weather & health permitting, for 20years. He avidly followed sports, thestock market, politics, & golf. Hetruly loved life, his family & friends.Fred is survived by his loving & devotedwife of 53 years, DottieBastie; 3 children & their families:Michele & Chuck Pederson ofHouston, Sheri & Fred Bastie ofDallas, & Kathy Corl of Houston; 6grandchildren: Casey Hall, KristinaHall, Reed Bastie, Brooke Bastie,Ryan Corl & Evan Corl. Brother &sister-in-law, Faye & Bob Bastie;sister & brother-in-law, Sharon &Wayne Schelleman both of Halifax,NS. He is also survived by 2 nieces,Cherie & Patty & 1 nephew, Robalso in Halifax, NS. A very closeCanadian cousin, Gerry Bastie, recentlywrote these words aboutFred: "He could have been the pictureboy for a big brother ad or anexample of what everyone wanted ina friend or relative. He loved hisfamily & was so proud of hisyounger generations: The CharlieHustle of family relations. To knowhim or have him in your family wasa bonus of the highest order. Hecould easily go to heaven, raised bythe tears of his friends & family.My cousin Ferdy is a hallmark ofspecial memories for everyone hetouched in life." On Friday, September3, 2010 at 4:00pm there willbe a Memorial Service celebratinghis life followed by a short receptionat his church, St. Francis de Sales,8200 Roos Road, Houston, TX77036.
