Obituary

Ralph Wyatt Bell , Dallas native, passed peacefully in his home in Farmers Branch, TX, on Wednesday, January 23, 2019.He was preceded in death by his parents Ralph W. Bell, Sr. and Mamie Lynn Henry, wife Billie Jo Lewis, daughter Lisa Diane Schneider, granddaughter Ryan Lindsey Bell , brother Harold J. Bell, sister-in-law Peggy Nell and E.R. Zachary, brother-in-law James Casey Lewis.Ralph is survived by daughters Deborah Elaine and husband Randy Cox, Sheree Lyn and Robert J. Mock, and Christy Janay Bell, son Phillip Wyatt Bell, grandchildren Randi Elaine Lappin and husband Richard Lappin , Matthew Gabriel Cox and wife Jessica Liza, Brandon Struecker, and sisters-in-law Delores Bell, Linda Gay and Noel Hyde, and brother-in-law Tracy Hartline and Thonya.Great grandchildren include Rachel Lappin Sogge, Riley Lappin, Jaxon, Mylo, Bazel, and Izobel Cox, McCrae Roberts, Landon and Noah Struecker. Great-great grandchildren include Declan and Mya Sogge, Raine and Conner Lappin, Landon and Noah Struecker.Nephew Bruce Bell and niece Patti Boesch and their children, and many cousins.Marjorie Sommer and her family who have been especially close these last few years, and many other friends and relatives.Ralph worked for the John E Mitchell munitions Company in Dallas as a young man.He joined the US Navy in August, 1944, and first served on the merchant ship SS Permanente in the Navy gun crew. He then served on the USS Sacramento gunboat, USS Hanna destroyer escort, USS Mt. Katmai ammunition ship, USS Prairie destroyer tender, USS McGinty destroyer escort, and USS America amphibious assault ship. His time in the US Navy was always very special to him.Retiring after 23 years from the Navy as a Lieutenant , he returned to Dallas and worked for Otis Engineering as a computer analyst for 20 years.Ralph loved travelling, was an avid reader, and really enjoyed checking out the stock market and YouTube old music on the computer. He thoroughly enjoyed being able to attend the Honor Flight in September , 2018.Thanks to Norma Gonzalez and Custom Care Home Health and Hospice for their care in his last days. Officiating will be Neil Schultz.
