Kasi Visweswara Rao Bendapudi, loving husband and father, passed away at home on February 17, 2019 at the age of 72.Kasi was born on July 28, 1946 in Eluru, India. He earned his bachelors degree in civil engineering from Andhra University in 1968. He moved from India to the United States in 1969, after which he received a masters degree in civil engineering from the University of Missouri at Rolla. Kasis first days in the United States were marked by a near-death encounter with a speeding VW bug, which left him hospitalized for the first three months of his American experience.Kasi subsequently worked as a structural engineer in Atlanta, where he met and married Pranut Kowinwipat in 1977. Later, the couple settled in Dallas, where together they raised two boys, Tem and Ravi. Kasi was a dedicated husband and a wonderful father. He also truly loved being an engineer and travelled the world for work during his many years of employment at Lockwood Greene, KBR, and Carbonyx. Later, he focused on his consulting business and took great pleasure in mentoring a younger generation of engineers. In both his professional and personal lives, Kasi was widely admired for his gregariousness, optimism, and positivity. He made and maintained enduring friendships at every stage of life and enjoyed visits from his family and childhood friends from India during his final years.Kasi was preceded in death by his parents, Sundara Ramamurthy and Chandramati Bendapudi as well as five brothers and a sister. He was the last Bendapudi of his generation.
