Ernest Bernhardt, of Dallas, TX died on March 2, 2013 at the age of 90. Born in Berlin, Germany, he immigrated to the United States in 1936. A graduate from Montclair High School (NJ.), he earned a B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering from Purdue University, a M.Ch E. from the University of Delaware, and a doctorate in Engineer from the University of Darmstadt, Germany.After serving in the US Army during WWII, he enjoyed a long career in the plastics industry, including more than twenty years at the European headquarters of the DuPont de Nemours Company, in Geneva, Switzerland.While at DuPont, he worked on the commercial development of plastics, and holds several patents related to extrusion.
