Cheryl Ann (Eichel) Black, age 66, of University Park died Thursday, September 14, 2017following a long battle with breast cancer.Cheryl graduated from Dover (Ohio) High School in 1969 and received a B.S. R.N. from The Ohio State University in 1973.After she married Jeff Black, M.D. in 1974, she lived in Columbus, Dallas, Baltimore, Charleston, San Diego, returning to Dallas in 1990 to support her husbands medical training and career.Her life was dedicated to serving others which was especially evident in a nursing career that often involved leadership. Positions held included Head Nurse/Director of Surgical ICU at Johns Hopkins Hospital, SMU Student Health Center and Congregational Care at Highland Park Presbyterian (HPPC), where she was an active member and officer. In 2013 she was named one of the 100 Great Nurses in DFW. Her most rewarding and impactful legacy was being a friend, advisor and encourager to those with health concerns.She is survived by husband, Jeff; children, Kirsten Bruner, Ian and Trevor; grandson Von; siblings, Glenn Eichel and Laurie Hess.In lieu of flowers, please donate to Texas Scottish Rite Hospital or HPPC missions.A memorial service will be held on Friday,September 29, 2017at 2:00pm at Highland Park Presbyterian Church (HPPC)3821 University Blvd, Dallas, Texas 75205.Please leave the family condolences and share memories on this website.
