Obituary

Blair Hamilton Hackney, born on February 4, 1926 in Atchison, Kansas, passed away in his sleep on November 27, 2024, at the age of 98. He graduated from Kansas State University in Milling Administration with a minor in Engineering.

Blair was a businessman through and through showing qualities that would define his life: resilience, strong sense of responsibility, and commitment to excellence. He valued hard work and always emphasized the importance of being respectful to anyone you meet. However, anyone who knew him learned not to misinterpret his deadlines. No matter what date he told you, it was always due the day before. "Go Go Go!" After retirement, he focused on volunteering at a hospital and even became a volunteer nominee for "Employee of the Year Award," showing his dedication and focus to give back to his community.

Blair proudly served in the Navy during WWII, and his time in the service deeply shaped his life and character. He was a Navy man at heart and went on to join the Coast Guard Auxiliary. Whether it was the lake or the sea, the water was where he felt most at peace.

Blair is survived by his beloved wife Evelyn, the love of his life, along with his daughter Pam, son Hall, and grandchildren Aimee, Christopher, and Leah, as well as great-grandchildren Evelyn, Luca, and Annie.

He lived a truly remarkable life, and while it is difficult to say goodbye, his family takes comfort in knowing that he is finally at peace.

The memorial will be on December 13th at 10:00 at Highland Park Presbyterian Church in the chapel.

If lieu of flowers the family encourages donations to the Department of Veteran Affairs.
