John McKnight Blankenship was born on September 1, 1930 at St. Paul Hospital in Dallas, Texas and passed away on Saturday, January 28, 2012 at his home of lung cancer.He was a graduate of WilmerHutchins High School, Class of1947, and served 4 years in the Navy during the Korean War. Retired from Eastman Kodak after 32 years and also retired from the Carrollton Post Office. John played baseball and fast pitch softball in the Dallas area.John met Jean in 1946 at Rivercheon Park during an American Legion Baseball Tournament. They marriedin 1950 and had 61 years of love and laughter.He is survived by his wife, Wilma Jean Miller Blankenship, and his daughter Janet May Blankenship. He is also survived by William C. "Bill" and Doris Miller of Irving, Sam and Judy Miller ofMalakauf, Bob Miller of Waxahachie, Jim and Johnnie LynnMiller of Mineola, and Mike andGina Nelson of Lewisville; fourcousins and numerous nieces andnephews also survive him.
