Martha "Marty" Madden Bloodgood passed away Monday, July 25, 2011 in Dallas. She was born February 4, 1934 in Larchmont, New York to Harry and Martha Elizabeth Madden.Marty married Richard "Dick" Monroe Bloodgood on October 24, 1953 at St. Augustine's Church in Larchmont, New York. The couple lived in Connecticut and Massachusetts before moving to Dallas in 1962. Together they had six children and owned and operated Dallas Specialties. In the spring of 1983 Marty returned to school, first attending Brookhaven Community College where she was a member of the Phi Theta Kappa National Honor Fraternity. After her undergraduate work, she earned a Master of Science from the University of North Texas in 1989. In 1994 she earned her doctorate of Philosophy from the University of North Texas. Marty became a licensed psychologist in 1996 and also earned her Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification. She was employed at UT Southwestern Medical Center for a decade.Marty was a member of the St. Monica Catholic Church where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and a member of Stephen Ministry. She was predeceased by son, Greg, in 1987 and husband Dick in 2006.Survivors include five children Mark and Cindy Bloodgood and children Jenny, Christina and Matthew, of Phoenix, AZ, Jim and Kelly Bloodgood and children Christopher and Michael of Dallas, Tom and Lisa Bloodgood and children Lauren and Nick of Dallas, Carol and John Cooper and children Erin and Brian of Dallas, and Pat and Wesley Cooper and children Richard and Brandon of Fort Worth; sister-in-law Beverly Bloodgood; and great-grandchildren Isabella and Destiny; and a host of friends. A Rosary will be held at St. Monica Catholic Church on Thursday, July 28 at 7 p.m.A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Monica Catholic Church in Dallas on Friday, July 29 at 1 p.m. with Father Stephen Bierschenk presiding. Memorial contributions can be made in Marty's name to support Baylor All Saints Medical Center's Transplant Program.
