Obituary

Edward M. Blute Sr. 82, of Harwich, MAand Plano, TX died peacefully, after a beautiful life, with his wife and daughter by his side.He was the loving husband of MaryLou (Balint) for 56 years.Ed was born in Newton, MA and moved to NewYork City as a teenager where he graduated from DeLaSalle High Schoolin Manhattan and later from American Academy of Funeral Service. Heserved in the United States Navy during the Korean War aboard the USS Arcadia.He completed his funeral apprenticeship in Boston before fulfillinghis dream of raising his family on Cape Cod. In 1962, he moved toHarwich, MAwhere he founded the Eaton & Blute Funeral Home. After hispartnership dissolved, he was the General Manager of Doane, Beal &Ames and Nickerson Funeral Homes. Ed also worked as a Police Officerin Harwich, MAfrom 1962 1972. He & Mary Lou retired in 1995 moving toFlorida and later to Texas, all the while returning to Harwich for thesummers. He spent many hours working with his sons in theirrespective businesses in Harwich Center.He enjoyed a solid reputationas a caring and generous man who gave back to his community throughmany organizations including Past Grand Knight and 4thDegree Knightof Columbus, Past Commodore and Life Member of Allen Harbor YachtClub, Harwich Golf Commission, Parish Council and Eucharistic Ministerat Holy Trinity Church, Kiwanis, Harwich Chamber of Commerce, HarwichPolice Association and Cranberry Valley Golf Course.Ed cherished hiswife and family. He was the proud father of Edward M. Blute Jr.of Plymouth, MA,Kevin & Lorraine Blute of Harwich, MA,Mary & Paul Marinoniof Plano, TX, Thomas & Jodie Blute of Harwich and John & Jodi Blute ofHarwich, MA. He was so proud of each of his 13 grandchildren, and wasalways generous with a hug, smile and an encouraging word for Paul,Daniel, Allison, Delaney, Chandler, Jacqueline, Patrick, Zachary,Jessica, Nicholas, Jack, Maura & Charlotte and his great grandson,Mario. He also leaves numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dearfriends, his 5thson Bill and his wife, Leslie Flynn of Harwich, MAandbrother-in-law Rev.
