Harold A. Brooks of Farmers Branch, Texas passed away on Friday, July 6, 2018 at the age of 70.Hewas born in Muncie, Indiana to Clarence and Bessie Brooks on June 7, 1948. He grew up in Muncie as the third of four children. After graduating from Muncie Central High School, he worked at Westinghouse and attended college fulltime at Ball State University. After serving in the Army during the Vietnam War, returning in 1969, he met Kathy and they were married in 1970. Also at this time, Harold resumed working at Westinghouse while going to school to get his Associates Degree. In 1980, he was hired by Texas Instruments and moved his family to Texas. He worked for TI / Raytheon for 35 years. During his time with TI / Raytheon, he worked in research and development in the defense field. He particularly enjoyed his time as a field test specialist.Hewas defined by certain characteristics: well-liked by all that he met, huge heart, very accepting of others, giving, always lending a helping hand, happy with a smile on his face, kind and friendly, could not find a more caring family man, always had great stories to tell, and continuously learning and studying. He loved nature and the outdoors. He loved cars, especially the first car that he and Kathy purchased together, and still own, their 1970 Camaro. He always had pets that he adored. He was best at taking care of his wife and daughter.Harold is lovingly remembered by his wife of 47 years, Kathy (nee Delk); his daughter Karen and her husband Bryan Compton of Plano, Texas; brothers Clarence Brooks and Francis Brooks (wife Peggy) both of Muncie, Indiana; various nephews and nieces; and friends that became extended family.The family will be receiving friends and family for visitation and viewing from 9:30 am to 10:30 am on Thursday, July 12, 2018 in the Brooks Family Chapel of the North Dallas Funeral Home, 2710 Valley View Lane, Farmers Branch, Texas 75234.The Celebration of Life service will begin promptly at 10:30 am, also at the funeral home.Following the service there will be a procession to Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas 75211 where Harold will receive military honors for his service to our country and be laid to rest at 1:00 pm, among other veterans that served our country.Please leave the family condolences and share memories on this website.
