Obituary

Phillip (Phil)Richard Brown of Garland, Texas passed away on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at Plano Presbyterian Hospital, due to head trauma sustained from a fall on September 15, 2017. He was surrounded by family and friends. He was 64 years old.Phil was born on August29, 1953 in Hillsdale, Michigan to Curtis and Charlene Brown. He enlisted in the United States Navy following graduation from high school and was medically discharged in 1973. He received an associate's degree from Jackson Community College and attended Central Michigan University. He married Cheryl Brown on August 19, 1978. Phil and Cheryl moved to Texas where he was employed at Texas Instruments as a drafter. When he was no longer able to work full time due to medical problems he did enjoy working part time and volunteering at the VA Medical Center in Dallas. He enjoyed spending time with other veterans. The highlight of his life was spending time with his children and their families; especially his two grandsons who were the bright lights of his life.Phil is survived by his wife, of 39 years, Cheryl; his daughter, Nicole Hernandez and son-in-law, Martin andgrandson, Ethan of Dallas, Texas; his son, Kyle Brown and daughter-in-law, Jeni and grandson, Mason of Garland, Texas; his mother, Charlene Brown of Adrian, Michigan; sisters, Shawn Acker and Sara Farris of Michigan; brothers, Perry Brown of Michigan and Clint Brown of Chicago, Illinois. He is preceded in death by his father, Pete Brown; and brother, Paul Brown as well as his maternal and paternal grandparents.Phil was cremated and there will be a military service, with military honors, at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery on Monday, October 16, 2017 at 2:30 pm. There will be a celebration of his life after the ceremony.In lieu of flowers, please donate to any Veteran's organization that you choose as the VA did a great deal for Phil in his life.Please leave the family condolences and share memories on this website.
