Dr. Ann Buckholt, age 75, of Carrollton Tx. passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2015. She was born Edith Ann Shaffer, on October 10, 1939, in Tyler, Tx. She grew up in Dallas, Tx., where she met her husband, Dr. Billy Wayne Buckholt. They were married 58 years until his passing in 2013. They had 3 daughters and a son. Ann loved her family unconditionally. She did all she could to help supply their needs and set an extraordinary example of what a mother should be. She was a beautiful lady inside and out, always finding the good in others and encouraging anyone that needed uplifting and sharing the gospel. She was a devoted wife and an awesome, sweet sister.Oil painting was her hobby, with 30 paintings to her credit. Many of them grace the walls of her home. She was an incredible writer, sharing poems and stories with family and friends. She also played piano and was an exceptional vocal soloist. She loved bird watching, chimes, and her parrot, Rambo.Ann and Billy attended Decatur Baptist College and worked together through the years in the ministry of pastoring churches where God used Ann to serve as Bible teacher, Speaker, Counselor, Minister of Music, and much more. She assisted Billy in preaching engagements and accepted speaking engagements on her own.She was a dedicated Christian, always studying the Bible and continually seeking His will for her life. She was a prayer warrior, believing strongly in the power of prayer. She loved the passed away and was steadfast in her faith. Ann was a member of Prestonwood Baptist Church.Ann was a beautician, by trade, and had many loyal clients that followed her through the years. She said, " My profession is hairstyling. My vocation is in the ministry." She has a Doctor of Ministry and was working to complete a Doctor of Religious Studies at Trinity Seminary.She was proceeded in death by her parents, Clivey Matthew and Clara Mae Shaffer; her husband, Dr. Billy Buckholt; her brothers, Billy John Worthington and Benny Clyde Shaffer; and nephew, Benny Allen Christie.She is survived by her daughter, Summer Freeman and husband, John Scott Freeman; daughter, Elizabeth Darlene Holland, daughter, Donna Mae Smith and husband, Robert Smith; son, Stephen Hughes and wife, Roxanne; sisters, Rose Elaine Christie and husband, Albert Christie; Shirley Shaffer; grandsons; Paul Curtis Moyer and wife, Jessica; Aaron Lee Wayne Smith; grand daughter, Sonja Kaye Smith; and great grand daughter, Lanova Hughes; nieces, Amy Landers, Sharon Graham, Selina Allcorn, and nephew, Ricky Worthington.A memorial service will be held at First Christian Church of Rowlett, Tx.
