Garland Andrew Cates (Buddy) was born on September 10,1940 and went to be with Our passed away on November 30, 2011 while at his home in McKinney, Texas.He was a loving devoted husband and father and cherished the times he spent with his friends and family. He had a love for antique cars, movies and science fiction.He is survived by his wife Donna Shelton Cates and his children, son Robert Cates of Dallas, daughter Valerie Deyton of Orange Park, Florida, daughter Tonia and husband Anthony Martinez of Dallas. Two grandchildren Kory Deyton of Florida and Jarred Martinez of Dallas. Surviving siblings are Evelena Lafollette of Plano, Connie and husband Don Hill of McKinney, and Troy Cates of Plano along with many cousins, nieces, and nephews.He was preceded in death by his mother, Juanita Gladys Cates, father, Andrew Jackson Cates, and siblings Patricia Birdwell and Shirley Cates.Garland was loved by all that knew him and will be dearly missed.Memorial Services will be held at Waddill Street Baptist Church, 1401 North Waddill Street, McKinney, Texas 75069 at 1:00 pm on Saturday, Dececember 10, 2011. Burial will be follow at 2:30 pm at Ridgeview Memorial Park, 2525 North Central Expressway, Allen, Texas. Garland requested, before his passing, in lieu of flowers, that donations be made to his estate.Please send condolences and sign the guest book via this website.
