Obituary

Robert James Chronister, age 86, passed away peacefully after a long illness on August 11, 2013, at his home with his beloved family by his side. Born on March 21, 1927, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Bob was married to his sweetheart, Margaret, for close to 63 years. He grew up in Tulsa, enlisted in the Navy when he was barely 16, and served on the USS Belleau Wood in the Pacific Theater during World War II. Bob graduated from the University of Tulsa with a degree in accounting, and like many WWII vets, wasted no time in getting married and starting a family. He soon went to work as an industrial salesman, but his greatest joys were found through his family and sports. A natural athlete, he played professional softball as a young man, but found his ultimate sport in golf, which became both a hobby and a calling. Bob is survived by his six children and their spouses; his wife; eighteen grandchildren; soon-to-be twelve great-grandchildren; and his devoted dog, Danny Boy. He will be remembered for his integrity and his love for his family. A Visitation will take place on Wednesday, August 14, 2013, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the North Dallas Funeral Home. The funeral will be held Thursday, August 15, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. at Mary Immaculate Church, 2800 Valwood Parkway, Farmers Branch, TX. Burial will follow in Dallas/Fort Worth National Cemetery. Please send family condolences and sign the guestbook on this website.
