Clara Lee Tallent, a long time resident of Farmers Branch, passed away February 7, 2017. Clara was born March 27, 1928 in Oenaville, Texas. The daughter of Lee and Clara Bruggman, she was one of three children including brothers, Robert Bruggman and Vernon "Pete" Bruggman. Raised on a farm, "Tootie" drove tractors, picked cotton, was her high school drum majorette and state basketball finalist. We will always remember her home-made baked goods, including her chocolate pies (that got rave reviews from all). Clara married William Arnold "Bill" Tallent on May 4, 1949 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Cyclone, Texas. They moved to Dallas in 1949, to Fort Worth in 1953, and to Farmers Branch in 1961 where her neighbors became lifelong friends. They were members of Mary Immaculate Catholic Church.She was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan and those were some of the best times for she and Bill. She loved red cardinals and flowers. She loved to do yard work, play dominoes, and dance at the Senior Center which she did well into her eighties. She traveled to 48 states and internationally making many memories along the way.Clarawas a mother, a grandmother, but also a friend and mother to many. She truly had the gift of listening.Survivors included daughter, Becky Higgins and husband Phil; daughter, Debbie Smith and husband, Tim; grandchildren, Elaine Higgins Smith and husband, Justin, Lauren Roberts and husband, Paul, and Kevin Smith and fiance, Katie Oppenheim of Baltimore; sister-in-law, Lucille Bruggman of Temple, Texas; brother-in-law, Al Jensen of Enid, Oklahoma; as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews.We want to thank all the friends who have been with her throughout the years. A special thank you to the caregivers at Treemont nursing and rehab facility during her time there the last few months.The familywill be receiving visitors onFriday, February 10 from 1:00 to 7:00 pm at the North Dallas Funeral Home, 2710 Valley View Lane, Farmers Branch, Texas 75234.Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, February 11 at 12 noon in the North Chapel at Calvary Hill Cemetary, 3235 Lombardy Lane, Dallas, Texas 75225with Father Michael Forge as Celebrant.
