Craig enjoyed a long career as a financial executive in banking and industry beginning in 1967 in the credit department of First National Bank in Dallas (later InterFirst Bank). There he managed several commercial banking divisions and the investment banking and London merchant banking operations. He also led the bank's international oil and gas project finance syndications in the North Sea, South America and Middle East, where he was on assignment in Iran during the revolution. In 1976 while assisting bank client Braniff Airlines on a complex and innovative financing project, he met Braniff's new attorney Deborah Ethridge who would become his wife. Craig later served as Executive Vice President of First City Bank-Dallas, President of Fidelity Bank Dallas, and as Sr. Private Banking Relationship Manager at Northern Trust Bank. Craig and Deborah have served as volunteers, supporters and in leadership roles for more than two dozen community service organizations. Particularly near and dear to his heart were Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, the Men of Nehemiah, and numerous local performing arts groups. He served as President of the Board of Dallas Children's Theater and with Deborah as Co-Presidents of The 500, Inc.
Like his father, Craig was a 33rd degree Scottish Rite Mason and also a member of the York Rite. He served as Worshipful Master and Treasurer of Knox-Corinthian Lodge where he was honored with the Golden Trowel Award in recognition of his service to the lodge, its brothers, and his community.
Craig is survived by his wife Deborah; children, Tracy, Philip, and Montgomery; grandchildren, Austin Cotten and Caitlin Sutton; son-in-law, Jeff Cotten; siblings, Angela Giessner, Marshall Sutton, Larry Sutton, and Ginny Dell, their spouses, and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins; and dear friends that he loved as chosen family.
