David Ray
Grant
October 2, 1947 – March 24, 2025
It is with sadness for our family to announce that David Ray Grant (age 77) passed away on March 24, 2025, in Dallas, Texas. David's passing was a result of multiple post-surgical complications from a quadruple bypass that shortly followed a completed round of chemotherapy. David had been fighting lymphatic cancer for nearly 20 years with his 4th round just finishing up this past January. David gently passed in the presence of family.
David was born on October 2, 1947, in Longview Texas. He partly grew up in Ohio, where his mother was from, and the family later moved back to Texas. Texas was his home and remained so throughout his life. David graduated High School as a fighting farmer from Lewisville High, then enlisted in the Navy where he actively served during the Vietnam War and afterwards earned an associate's degree in electronics.
David is survived by his children David Rigel Grant (Jessica Grant), Christy April Grant, Abigayle Leora Eckles (Chad Eckles), Aaron Seth Grant (Elizabeth Grant); former spouses Charlotte and Jean; Grandchildren Drake, Sean, Lock, Jack, Ryan, Audrey, Andrew; Siblings Dan Grant (Brenda Grant), Becky Grant Burrell, Bonnie Grant LaPrade (Bruce LaPrade); and along with cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
David had successful careers throughout his life including, but not limited to being a machinist, project management in home construction, draftsman, and a computer engineer. David will be remembered for having faith in God, a spirit of generosity for those in need, nutrition, a passion for powerlifting, a natural talent for woodworking, and a unique sense of humor with a flirtatious demeanor. David impacted many people's lives during his time in this world.
A celebration of his life will be held April 11, 2025, at 2:00 PM at North Dallas Funeral Home, 2710 Valley View Ln, Farmers Branch, TX 75234. Please consider making a donation to one of the following charities in his honor:
