Obituary

Denny Burk Francis was born October 28, 1934 in Chillicothe Texas to Logan and Mary Etta Francis. He was the 7th child of 8 and had 3 sisters and 4 brothers. He had a nickname of Dentbucket because he had 2 dimples in his cheeks. He lived in Chillicothe until about the 8th grade and moved to Vernon and then to Fayetteville, Ark. His parents opened a restaurant there. His parents had restaurants wherever they lived and Denny’s first job was a pearl diver which really means washing dishes.

In 1951 he moved to Quanah and met Delois Ragan at a football game. They married in Dec. of 1952. He went to work for an oil exploration crew and they moved 3 times in the next few years: Grapevine, Stratford, and Granbury.

In 1955, they moved back to Quanah and he went to work for his brother as a sheet metal worker. They then moved to Dumas and then to Amarillo where they lived until 1969 when they moved to Grand Prairie and he went to work for a Roofing company doing commercial metal roofing for shopping centers, hotels, churches, etc. He put the metal around the top of Reunion Tower during the winter of 1978 in the cold and ice, many times only hanging from a rope. He was never afraid of heights.

They moved to Farmers Branch in 1971 and are still there today.

He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Delois, 3 children, Mark Francis and wife Marta, Joe Francis, and Deann Sherman and husband Brad. 6 grandchildren, Michael Francis and wife Jennifer, Matthew Francis and wife Angie, Christina Tabor and Husband Brandon, Jamie Vaca and husband Daniel, Melissa Birchett and Kimberly Price and husband Sam.
