Obituary

Donna King Bohlcke was born on September 21, 1927, and died on April 27, 2024. Preceding her in death, were her mother and father, Getrude and Lester Nunn, three children, David Whiteside, Sydney Dean Whiteside (infant), and Susan Whiteside. She is survived her husband G. Don Bohlcke, and by twin daughters, Linn Vanover and Kim Weatherford, grandchildren, Carry Abbott, Austin Whiteside, Justin and Wade Weatherford, Sarah Cates, and Jordon and Travis Vanover, and sixteen great grandchildren.

Donna's father was a chef, and owned a restaurant in Neodesha, Kansas. She worked in the restaurant most of her young years until she went off to college. She was Valedictorian of her senior class and went to Kansas State University.

Donna ended up working in the executive offices of Texas Instruments as an Administrative Assistant for 26 years.

Donna's primary interest was in the church. She served as the chairperson of the elders, and chairperson of the board in two different churches in Dallas. She was also one of the founders and served on the Board of Directors of Family Gateway, one of the first "family" homeless shelters in Dallas. Family Gateway works to enable families to stay together, and in addition teaches them skills in job seeking and living skills.

Donna, through her church, was an advocate for civil rights in Dallas in the early 60s in addition to working down in the Rio Grande Valley on behalf of migrant farm workers.

She married Don in 2000 and worked with him in the churches he served as minister until his retirement in 2014.

Donna's primary motto in all of her life was: "What are we going to do today to make a difference?"
