Obituary

Joyce was born in Martha, Oklahoma on August 20, 1921, then the Angels escorted her from our loving arms to Jesus, Papa, Alice, Anita, her daddy Barney and her brother, Alvis Dean and many others on September 7, 2014. What a time of rejoicing that had to be.She is survived by daughters Barbara Chambers, Linda Kimbrell and son-in-law Jerry, Debra Summerford and son-in-law Gene, sons John Leslie Douglas III and daughter-in-law Susan and Barney Lee Douglas and daughter-in-law Carol. Grandchildren include Mark, Beth, Farren, Jonathan, Jason, Donna, Sandra, Melanie, Matthew, Kay, Frankie and Kristie. Great grandchildren include Benny, Kobey, Brock, Shawna, Lauren, Kode, Angelina, Paige, Bruce, Tabitha, Justin, Kalob, Korey, Taylor and James. Great great grandmother to Branson and Koleman.She is preceded in death by her father, Barney Lee Sublett, her mother, Beulah Hawkins, her brother, Alvis Dean Sublett, her sister, Avanell Sublett Walker, her loving husband of 66 years. John Leslie Douglas Jr., her beloved first born child, Alice Joyce Douglas Raley and her granddaughter Anita Dawn Kimbrell.Joyce was an amazing woman and had a wonderful life. She was strong, courageous, loving, beautiful, feisty, kind, caring, honest, comfortable, witty, stubborn, real, funny and definitely ahead of her time!She was a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, mother-in-law, city bus drive, truck driver, business woman, cancer survivor, feminist and so much more!Visitation will be held on Friday, September 12, 2014 from 9:00 to 11:00 am in the Brooks Family Chapel of the North Dallas Funeral Home, 2710 Valley View Lane, Farmers Branch, Texas 75234.Celebration of Life Service will begin immediately following the visitation at 11:00 am in the Brooks Family Chapel.Interment will follow the service at 1:00 pm at the Dallas~Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway,Dallas, Texas 75211,were she will be laid to rest by her late husband, John L.
