Eric Wayne
Aguilar
July 22, 1945 – March 6, 2026
Eric Wayne Aguilar, died peacefully, surrounded by his family and friends, on Friday, March 6, 2026 in Dallas, Texas. He was 80 years old.
Eric was born on July 22, 1945 in Puerto Cabezas, Nicaragua to Alfonso and Emma Aguilar. Eric moved with his mother, brothers, Ray and Tony, and sister, Carolina, to Panama City, Panama in 1950. He completed his primary education as well as his secondary studies through the third year in Panama before he returned to Nicaragua.
In 1962, Eric was accepted into the Military Academy of Nicaragua and returned to Managua to complete his high school and superior studies at the academy. Eric excelled in school and was eager to learn as he spent most of his free time reading about the world, current events, and science. He mastered the English language early in his life, which paved the way for him to travel and study abroad during his time in the academy. He graduated from the academy in 1966, and was awarded a job as an English professor at the academy. While he worked and served his country in various capacities, he continued studying. He completed various courses in psychology, studied at the Institute of Agriculture in Nicaragua, and in 1973 received a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from the Universidad Centro Americana in Managua. Eric's stellar military career further earned him many awards and the rank of Captain.
After the revolution in Nicaragua, Eric married the love of his life, Yolanda, and moved to the United States. In 1990 they settled in Dallas, Texas. In this next chapter of his life, he returned to school yet again, earned a degree in Hospitality and Hotel Management, and worked for the Warwick Melrose Hotel for 27 years. Eric loved his job. He was afforded the opportunity to move around within the company and held positions as Supervisor of Housekeeping, Manager of Security, Manager of Accounting, and Purchasing Director. Eric stood out because of his intelligence, hard work, and excellence; this was evident as he was consistently recognized and awarded dozens of accolades and prizes, such as Manager of the Quarter, Manager of the Year, and Employee of the Year. Eric's desire to learn never stopped as he also learned to prepare taxes and worked for H&R Block for 17 years.
Eric was an erudite scholar but equally adept in interpersonal relationships; he could relate to and converse with anyone.
Eric is survived by his wife, Yolanda Aguilar; sister, Ernomi Sinclair; brother and sister-in-law, Floyd and Julia Aguilar; sister-in-law, Amadis Aguilar; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Eric is preceded in death by his father, Alfonso Aguilar; mother, Emma Aguilar; brothers, Tony, Ray, and Adan Aguilar; sister, Carolina Aguilar; sister-in-law Elena Aguilar; and nephew, Michael Aguilar.
Our beloved Eric is remembered for his kindness, his smile, his love for life and learning, his devotion to and love for his family, and his service to his country.
He will be missed.
